OBERMOSER “St. Magdalener” Classico 2019
The glass isn’t dirty - what looks like twigs is the grips and holes of a climbing wall sparkling through the bowl. Alto Adige Wines’ annual “Race to the Top” hosted a climbing-trivia-drinking-eating afternoon event, and coming in at first place, in my opinion, was not a winning team but a winning wine.
Obermoser’s St. Magdalener Classico 2019 shone a brilliant ruby in the glass. Even slightly chilled, for better refreshment in the August humidity, dusty cherries dominated the nose. On the tongue, the cooling influences of the Alto Adige slopes show off as a delicate mintiness.
Overall, a wine well worth the climb.
